Third game in development. Stay tuned for the reveal.
Kempston Pilots is an indie game studio focused on modern arcade experiences for the web. The goal is to create fast, accessible games inspired by the spirit of classic home computers and early arcade design.
Kempston Pilots draws on a background in engineering and large-scale software systems, with more than two decades of experience developing reliable technology across telecommunications, energy, enterprise platforms, and digital products. That engineering discipline influences how the games are built. The surface stays simple and approachable, while the underlying systems are carefully designed.
The roots of Kempston Pilots go back much further.
In 1986, a ZX Spectrum 48K entered the picture. What began as playing games soon turned into typing programs from MicroHobby magazines, learning BASIC directly on the keyboard, and experimenting with small original games.
After many years working professionally in software engineering, Kempston Pilots represents a return to those early beginnings.
Studio mission: build modern arcade games that capture the immediacy, experimentation, and joy of early home computing and classic arcade machines, reimagined for the web.
From ZX Spectrum BASIC to modern 3D web games โ practical tutorials from 20+ years of production software engineering, applied to indie game development.
